Fernwood Hills - Lily Grace & Benjamin
In 2016, Pantone chose two equally calming tones for the colours of the year. Serenity and Rose Quartz were to set the stage for this beautiful wedding set amongst the woods at Fernwood Hills in Komoka, Ontario.
Lily Grace, the bride, is a trained ballerina who teaches at a local dance school in London. Together with her, we chose her love of Ballet and her favourite flowers, magnolias and roses, to showcase the colour pallet of the day.
The day started as our bride got ready in the beautiful, light and airy studio on the property with hair and makeup provided by Erica of Selah Vie Hair & Makeup Artistry. Erica went with soft pink tones on the lips and cheeks and echoed it in the soft smokey eye for the bride. Her hair was first curled and then loosely pulled back into a flattering low up-do.
The dress from Once Upon a Time Weddings in Strathroy was the most exquisite dress we have ever seen. The bodice of the dress had a beautiful lace overlay, and was shaped like a ballerina's leotard. It featured a full ballgown skirt with French tulle overlay. The groom wore a beige suit over a Serenity Blue shirt, accented by a Rose Quartz toned bow-tie, provided by Bud Gowan Mens Wear.
The ceremony was set at Fernwood Hills signature site, with rustic hand hewn wood benches and surrounded by the beautiful forest all around. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of multiple sizes of white, blush, and pink garden roses, pure white magnolia, and hanging amaranthus hand tied with draping ribbons in the colours of the day. One of our antique white easels, with a reflective mirror sign and floral accent piece welcomed the guests to the celebration.
The invitations were understated, yet beautiful. Influenced by the colours of the day, designer Sandra Martin of Love on Paper Co., took her inspiration from the purity of a beautiful white magnolia bloom and delicately interwove that theme into her design.
The reception was set in front of the exquisite little pond on the property, the backdrop to the head table was made using sheer white netting draped with green garlands and carefully placed floral accents, and featured a stunning floral chandelier from our team. The table was set with a serenity blue tablecloth overlayed with overflowing tulle reminiscent of a ballerina's tutu. A beautiful
floral and greenery garland, featuring boxwood, fern, magnolia leaves and blooms, as well as climbing, tea, and garden roses, magnificently draped across the table, accented by pink cut crystal candlesticks, as well as our beautiful vintage china in the Athens pattern on top of our pink scalloped chargers, and set with cut crystal glasses. The head table was framed by vineyard chairs with the bride and groom's chairs decorated with sheer white netting and floral feature pieces.
If you took a walk through the woods to the location where the bride and groom would cut the cakes, you would be surprised to find a trio of decadent confectionary masterpieces featuring lace, ruffles, stripes and gorgeous gum paste blooms by Kellie of Fancy That Cake in Fergus, sitting atop a rustic antique piano. Garlands, florals and lanterns framed the setting. It was a memorable day, bringing together the best of the best, with all pictures done by Dylan Martin of Dylan Martin Photography.
